Cisco Packet Tracer 6.0.1 Full Version

For many academies, providing adequate and open access to lab networking equipment and hands-on experiences for students is a continual challenge. Cisco Packet Tracer helps address this challenge by providing a simulated learning environment that enhances students’ ability to learn and practice their networking skills.

We are pleased to announce the release of Cisco Packet Tracer (PT) 6.0.1, which includes the following new protocol support and enhanced functionality:

• Supports IOS 15.2 and its licensing methodology
• Provides enhanced IPv6 support
• Supports new devices such as ISR 1941, ISR 2901, ISR 2911, terminal server interface, and servers with two network interface cards
• Supports Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and ACL sequence numbers
• Provides new capability with PT LAN and WAN Multiuser Servers to create multiuser games and activities
• Provides new capability with PT Bridge to connect real network equipment to the Packet Tracer environment

Please upgrade to the new version to take advantage of the many improvements included in this release. Since Packet Tracer 6.0.1 is required to teach the new CCNA Routing and Switching courses, available starting in June 2013, we encourage instructors to download and become familiar with PT 6.0.1 as soon as possible. To download the software, log in to Cisco NetSpace, select Offerings > Packet Tracer, then select the appropriate download package for your needs. To avoid version incompatibility issues during final exams in many parts of the world, students will not have access to download the PT 6.0.1 software until the second week of June 2013.

Packet Tracer is an application produced by Cisco Systems to provide a virtual simulation of real life equipment and situations. Packet Tracer is used heavily in the Cisco Net Academy (Program used to teach Cisco curriculum through third-party schools and training organizations). While Packet Tracer is commonly used in the education environment, many corporations use the tool, to map out and plan network layout, and base device configuration. With Packet Tracer you have the ability to simulate a network, and well as traffic, end devices and servers. You can configure routers, switches, wireless access points, servers, and end devices. (This includes mock versions of the Cisco IOSs)
